Benjamin – Task Manager and Calendar Inspired by Benjamin Franklin for iPhone App Reviews

Above average

Basically it. Would be nice unfit would sync with my Mac as well. Have some issues with recurring tasks. But oh well

Perfect for the OCD

Ive used paper (Day Timer and such) planners since high school in the 1940s. As a contemporary of the guy this program is named for (almost) I can attest that it is just what I needed. I am rejuvenated!

Im grateful for this app

I am grateful for Benjamin. I tried OmniFocus, and found it too detailed and fiddly for my needs. Benjamin makes for a nice transition from using a Day Timer with Charles Hobbs Time Power System back in the day. Thank you for an excellent tool for my tool box!

Excellent!

Better than the paper version. Keep up the good work!

Think Coveys 7 Habits

I agree w/ previous reviewers. Best app Ive yet found for people who are planning according to Coveys 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Almost perfect.

Would be nice to see all your tasks in one list as an option. Need to add the all important goals/values section. Long over due. Thank you! I love this app.

Pretty decent

I use this app every day. Last revision to it was definitely an improvement so good job there. To further improve can you integrate iCal (iPhone calendar) with this apps calendar so they synchronize / match each other? All in all, this app is good & worth the small price I paid to get it.

My final choice

Id learned the Franklin time management system years ago and always wished for an app that worked well with this system. I tested several apps, including Any.Do, Wunderlist and Nozbe, but I kept coming back to Benjamin. It was easy, efficient and not overkill! I recommended a recurring task feature on a Sunday afternoon and the developers got right back with me telling me the feature was already there and how to use it. It ended up being even more robust than I was expecting. That sealed the deal. All the other apps have just been deleted.

Filter on search

Need to have a filter on search to narrow down the events/ tasks that come up

Almost perfect. Please fix..

Ive reduced my review from 4 stars to 1 star for 1 big reason. Even though there are 2 things they should fix, the #1 complaint listed below which should be a simple fix is still being ignored. Its infuriating and Im ready to pull the system out of my apps and all my staff. They fix this, Ill reevaluate my score. The amount of time it wastes for me has pushed me over the limit. Here are my 2 big complaints and if they fix this it goes to 5 stars and gets featured in a video blog. #1 The syncing from iPhone to IPad is terrible. As a result, if I have a repeating task, like Planning & Solitude and I mark it off on my iPad and it doesnt sync then the next day I have 2 or 3 of the same tasks. I have to go in. Delete the task, recreate it and set it to repeat. Total pain in the butt. #2 I cant delegate to other mobile devices. It should have an option where I can specify what other accounts I can delegate to do u can use the delegate function with my employees. You can email tasks but thats lame. I want it in my employees list immediately.

Very helpful!

I love being able to keep track of my "to do" lists (daily and long term) on my phone, and sometimes re-arrange priorities. I think its worth the cost, for me.

Terrible

Absolute garbage app. Seek another option.

coolgirl85

I honestly think that aside from it being a bit pricey. It is worth it than most of the other apps. The ones that were only 6 dollars or less were confusing and drove me up the wall. This was the only or one of the few apps that was easy to manage and use. Definitely worth the money! Dont waste on the other less expensive ones. U will definitely waste it on the complicated ones. Im not even using them at all. Way too confusing!

Good app!

I have been using this app for over a year now and I think it is the best planner app in the market; as of today. I dont mind the subscription because being able to sync my devices is extremely beneficial and for what I was paying to purchase Franklyn Covey planners; going paperless is AWESOME! However, I do have to say that the app has not changed much in the last year and half. At times my tasks are repeated (listed more than once); the sync does not add all tasks and sometimes the app crashes. Point being is; does it need an update? Otherwise, is a great app and very useful for my day to day planning at the office and personal agenda.

Great app!

I have been using this app for years and love being able to use the Franklin Covey ABC-123 method for prioritizing my day. Being able to sync across multiple iOS devices is a bonus! Just take care to sync fully on one device before syncing on another, or youll get old data mixed in. Happens to me often, as I use the app daily on my iPad and rarely on my iPhone.

Planning made convenient & fun

I am really enjoying this app. It costs a little more than most, but Im not having to run to my planner every time I think of something.

Efficient app...

There are a few quirks but this app has definitely made things easy for me. Thanks.

Closest to the paper system

Ive tried a bunch of to-do list and productivity apps, trying to find one that was like the old paper system I used and loved for years. This one is the only one that has all the things I need. I can mark tasks "in progress", I can keep notes with tasks, and I can look back and see what I did when. If I could attach pictures to tasks, too, this would be perfect (Im a freelance artist, and it would be great to have a visual reminder of where I was on what day right in the app.) It would also be nice if I could mark things accomplished on previous days. My "day" isnt always over by midnight. As it stands, I have to remember to stop and mark things "Completed" before the clock strikes 12 if I know Im going to finish before bedtime. But given how well the rest of the app works, those are small quibbles. I highly recommend Benjamin if, like me, its important to you to see not only what you still need to do, but what you have done, and on what day.

No sync with ToodleDo

I used a Franklin planner for years, so purchased this app. Problems: All my tasks are configured in Toodledo now, there is no way to import and synchronize across platforms- Outlook, ToodleDo desktop app, etc. There is no integrated help in the app, so I cant troubleshoot. I REALLY wanted to use this app because I want to use the Franklin system, but this is a stand alone system. It needs to integrate with other services, not just parallel versions of itself running on other devices

Pretty good App

This is a good app. If you are a Franklin Covey fan- this follows the system well. Pros-easy to read on the phone; task list shows todays lost by priority; you can list task by project; you can see todays events synced from your calendar and all to do lists at once. -you can sort tasks by a project. Cons. -Due date is not shown on the list. The app kinda assumes that you will finish everything every day. You cannot see of something is past due. - you cannot see upcoming tasks - there is no way to see all your tasks at once. The master task lost only shows tasks with no due date
